chubbiguy40: The simple answer is absolutely NOT.
Most people have no idea what they are doing and actually end up ruining their carpeting.
The carpet may at first look good, However without the suction of a professional extractor you WILL NOT be able to properly rinse the cleaning solution from the carpet and it will leave an invisible residue that will attract dirt even more quickly than before.
Dirt on a carpet will act just like sandpaper and destroy your expensive carpets.

Sharayah: There are many steam vacs to choose from. One that steam vacuums does a best job of all I've seen. The cleaner is moderately light to carry. You fill a gallon of water to the cleaner you choose. Most cleaners are in the same section as the cleaner.
I spray all my spot areas with kaboom and then use the cleaner. All my stains do come up, and that didn't occur with a carpet scrubber without steam.
All the cleaners are very easy to use.

alfawolfette10: I have found out it's not worth it to do it myself. For $100 or so I can have a professional come out and use the truck extraction method and it can suck up all the water. Home machines leave way too much water in the carpet, creating mold issues.
