raine:  if your bathroom is small, the towel radiator should be sufficient.
i personally wouldn't bother with under floor heating if the bathroom was small, if it was big I would, definitely.

skippypacer:  I know a few people that have it and they would be lost without it. If i wasnt living in rented accomodation I would defo have it.

cope_acetic@yahoo.com:  Even tho I live in WI & it gets awful cold with no heat in my bathroom, having a "heat fan" is sufficient, and probably much cheaper than a heated floor....and a heated towel rack? can you say wasteful, spoiled, non-ecological and self-indulgent?

LadyLgl:  Underfloor heat usually takes a long time to heat up and a long time to cool down and is spendy to install. A small electric heater inset into the wall would be enough to take the chill off and would have a knob so you can turn it completely off when you're warm enough. A towel warming bar would be a nice touch too.

John E:  Best to do without heating in the bathroom as the female of the species tend to linger longer if its warm, kep it cool--keep'em moving, another tip is to fix the phone halfway up the stairs so they don't spend hours gossiping.

colliedug111060:  Underfloor heating in a bathroom? What on earth for? Not worth it for the little time you actually spend in there.

Seriously, you shouldn't need a heated floor. You should be thinking about energy conservation. The towel rail is perfectly adequate.

j d:  we just finished putting wire under our marble tiles in the bath and ceramic tiles in the kitchen, while avoiding putting it in the corners and also where heavy appliances will be, i can tell you that it heats our kitchen. I live in NH and yesterday it got down to 32 degrees and my feet are so toasty. just to remind myself how cold the tiles would be if not for the heating, i step in the corners and feel the cooold. we laid it down ourselves with 3 inches apart and held the wire down with a very small amount of hot glue from the glue gun. being careful when putting the grout down not to move the wires. our control unit is in the kitchen with the wire going through some PVC pipe into the wall and out into the bathroom. we have had it on for about 3 weeks now and it sure makes a great difference. hope this info helps, i just love it. my 360 blog has pictures of it somewhere in the 36-41 pages. you can see the backer board with the wires on the floor with just a few of the tiles on it

hillbillynamedpossum:  electric underfloor heat is pretty cheap to install, not expensive at all to operate, and feels so nice in the morning. go for it

Groid:  I just got a tile floor in my bathroom and I hate the coldness of them on my feet. Underfloor heating would be good but would you keep it on all night? It's usually in the night if I have to go to the toilet that I find the cold floor a problem as I am in my bare feet. Most other times I have some form of footwear on or am getting out of the shower onto a shower mat.

Go for it if it's not going to cost a lot to install - nice touch of luxury. Missing the warmth of my lino now!

kieranvealeelec:  Underfloor electric heating is good and can be laid directly on the existing subfloor. It will need a special controller though and never heats to above 30Celcius and the power usage can be as little as 15 watts per square metre. It can also be fitted behind bathroom mirrors to prevent them from steaming up,but be sure and have them fitted by a professional.

Once the heating is on for several hours a day the bathroom will stay warm. However they are a better buy for a larger bathroom as you dont lay them under the bath, sink or toilet which cuts down on the amount of heat you will be able to get from clear floor area.

mickeyblueyes:  Go for it. In an average size bathroom the mat & controller wont be that much to buy anyway, and when its done dont set the timer to swith on & off at various times as that will waste more energy than leaving it on set at a quite low setting all the time. Apart from costs it feels fantastic just to walk barefoot on a warm tiled floor. Maintenance on this is usually nil..... if its done right ( & its easy enough to do yourself if you are fairly handy)
