Why is my floor heating in my bathroom?
Why is my floor heating in my bathroom?
There is a section of my bathroom floor that is just a lot hotter then the rest of my bathroom. The floor underneath is concrete, i just don't know if i should worry over this or not, the spot on the floor is about three feet in length and one foot in width. Thanks for your help
The floor is not extremly hot, just a warm feeling, if that makes a difference. Umm I have no clue if my neighborhhood runs on underground power supply.
Answers:
abacaxitoo: You might be feeling a hot water pipe that is warming up the floor. The pipe might be leaking!

Thor: I suspect it your hot water pipe too. And no, it doesn't have to be leaking to warm the concrete a little. It is not uncommon for them to run water pipes, hot or cold, through the concrete.
They don't do it much these days because they are required to insulate them better now. But it was a common practice in the past.
I have a couple that run through the floor in my basement.
Good Luck.

Ret68: Our home is built on a slab and quite old, and the same thing happened to us. It turned out to be a leak in a water pipe going from our water heater to the bathroom. There was an access to the back of the bathtub in an adjoining closet, and a hole in the concrete below the bathtub and I was able to bypass the leak. Shortly afterward we experienced leaks in other pipes running beneath the slab and had to run plumbing through the attic to different areas of the house. You may very well have cause for concerned, depending on the age of your home. I would shut all of the water off in the home and check the water meter and see if the small triangular hand is turning. If it is, you have a leak somewhere. ...Good Luck...
