Question For Those In England (Manchester Area)?
My friend and i are setting up a yard for to take in neglected horses, we already have 2 that we are currently working with. They came from a fair were they were in very bad state.
We will be a non profit yard, infact we will probably make a loss but we dont care. We both have a 110% love of horses and this is our dream.
We live in northern ireland and there are no yards like that here. Many horses go through cheap fairs and end up with a slaughter house.
Weve nearly got everything we need, however we are looking for a wholesaler for equestrian things. Our ex farrier used to say he travelled to Manchester to a warehouse that sold rugs etc, the makes of the rugs were Best On Horse. Ive tried googling that but nothing comes up.
We asked him for the address but he refuses to give us it, he said that we will just go and underprice him. However we are not looking to sell anything, it is to use on the horses we bring in as we now have 12 stables and hope to get more soon.
After the horses are retrained and shown plenty of love, we plan to loan them out. That way they are still our horses and we can keep an eye on them. Potential loan homes will be vetted and check regularly. This leaves us with more room to take on another horse and start the process again.
If anyone knows of this warehouse or maybe be able to guide me to another one then i would be very grateful. We plan to loan the horses with everything that the horse needs. As for example, we do not wish for a horse to come back with a bad back because the loaner doesnt realise that the saddle did not fit properly.
Sorry that this is so long, this is the only thing now that is holding us back as we cannot afford the prices in local tack shops or those online.
Thank you everyone. Equestrian items are so expensive!
Weve started applying for charity status, the local paper will not run anything until that comes through. All our money is going on buying these horses, feed etc.
Its really sad how some horses are treated. Im currently working on a mare who was badly beated and starved. She has a heart of gold and is responding well to me. Its going to be a long time before shes able to go back into work.
I swear i cried when i seen her running in the field for the first time. She was bucking like crazy. That makes it all worth the hard work!
