Question about after cleaning an area rug?
We just cleaned an area rug we got at a yard sale and unfortunately, after cleaning it about 3 times, it still smells like dog. I know the smell will go away after a while but until it does I was thinking of putting baking soda down on the other carpet first. Does anyone have any better ideas? It's an 8x10 rug and it's got a glued fiber backing. It's also made out of olefin.
Unfortunately it's not urine - it's just a wicked dog smell.
Basically though my question is what people think about putting something between the crpets like baking soda or something similar.

bluekitty1541: Try a product you can get from a janitorial supply house called OdoBan -- I think they also sell it in places like Home Depot. If you go to the janitorial place, ask them for something to kill urine smells in carpet. I had a cat urine smell that I was able to get rid of with that type of product, and believe me, dog smell is nothing next to cat urine.
I find the products sold in pet stores to be ineffective and pricey.
