I am trying to make a painted floorcloth... I was given a very large piece of material that they use for heavy?
window blinds (22.83 ft by 8 ft) ... I would like to make a large area rug out of it My question is do you think it will work? Where can I find resources for ideas, stencils, what kind of paint to use ... any help or ideas would be appreciated....

Ellen B:  It will work depending u[pon the weight and weave of the fabric. Canvas cloth is usually used due to the rather tight, smooth weave and heavy weight of the fabric and its cotton fiber content. Some sources recommend using regular floor or wall paint, but this tends to crack rather easily over time and use. This tendency is increased when floor cloths are used over carpeting. You can use regular carft paint and stencils available at craft stores like Michaels, JoAnn's, Hobby Lobby, etc. Craft glue is used to secure turned under edges for a finished look and polyurethane (preferably water based, since it does not yellow or distort colors like the regular polyurethane does) is used for sealer coats applied to the finished design.
