Rug cleaning solutions are soooo expensive! Any ideas of a homemade solution I can use in my Rug cleaner?
I have a rug doctor and need a solution you can find right a home that will work in the cleaner without casing a ton of foam?????

BERT:  White Vinegar works fairly well and it is certainly inexpensive. It does have that vinegar smell but it goes away and actually does remove odors. I have used it in my steam cleaner many times.

linda l:  I use ammonia (not the sudsy kind) in my Hoover dirt extractor. It does a great job. The ammonia breaks down the oils that hold the dirt in the rug and then the Hoover can suck it up. It works so well that I stopped buying that $6 a small bottle stuff.

M M T:  I use Simple Green in my carpet machine. It's cheaper, biodegradable and non-toxic and it works. Besides, it has a nice clean scent also. If you mix it correctly, you won't have the foam issue. But if you do get into an issue, some white vinegar or a little tiny bit of fabric softener solves that problem.
