Does anyone know how BEST to keep a carpet placed on a rug from bunching and moving?
I have wall to wall carpeting upon which we placed an area rug. We also put a carpet to rug pad underneath but the area rug still bunches and moves. Any Ideas?

Lady D: Hey! The same thing happened to us. I put part of it under the couch and that helped, but not much really.
We recently put in hard wood floors...that seems to be doing the trick ;-)

navyseawitch: They make this rubbery carpet liner, but it's really expensive. I get a roll of the shelf liner (good size rolls of it at the dollar stores)..you know, the rubbery, webby stuff?. Depending upon how thick your base rug is, it works pretty good. It works great with rugs on bare floors.

rob s: You NEED the special liner or cloth that is especially made to hold rugs in place.. They make them special for rug over soft surface and rug over carpet. They are "tacky" to the touch but will no residue. They come in a variety of sizes so know your rug size.. If you have an odd shaped rug you can cut these liners w/ scissors and pc them together. The use of the rubber shelf line may leave a permanent residue stain on carpet. The rug hold lines are made to breathe .. They will lose their " tackiness" after a while from normal day to day dirt and such. They are made to toss in the washer and the"tackiness" come back.. Any flooring questions you can e mail me through my avatar... GL

fantabulous!: At Home Depot near the painting supply area (go figure) they carry what is called 'CARPET TAPE' - which is merely double sided tape.
It wont hurt your carpet beneath and you will not have to worry about the rug on top going anywhere any longer I promise!
Its $5. - $6. for a roll that will leave you plenty to spare!
