How do I clean area rugs?
My family recently moved in to a rather large home that has not one stitch of carpet in it, just very nice linoleum throughout. I have bought some 5X8 area rugs and am wondering how to really clean them well. We don't wear shoes in the house and I spot clean with Resolve spray in the event of a spill but know that they will still get dirty and want to know what the rest of you do to keep them looking nice. Thanks for answers.

Emma W: Your best bet it to either get them cleaned or rent a steam cleaner such as a rug doctor. In order to keep my rugs nice I don't wear shoes on them. It helps a lot!

rob s: 3 choices.1) Have them cleaned by a service that comes to the house,2) you can take them to places that do this , such as a carpet cleaning company that come s to the house will have this service or 3) Do them your self w/ a rented machine.
Please make sure you have the proper , anti slip mat on the back to prevent staining of the vinyl .. Your bigger area rugs usually don t have a rubber backing( which will cause a permanent stain in some vinyls. Any flooring questions you can e mail me through my avatar.. GL
