Question about rug cleaning?
..Having my rugs cleaned this week but I hate adding the extra products to deod. and protect the rugs as someone told me once that those products are already added to the cleaning solution BEFORE they even get to your house. I was told by a friend that that's one of those ways they add things to your bill when you get the rugs cleaned so I am asking if anyone truly knows if this is the case...do these products get added by cleaning companies regardless as it is part of the solution anyway and would be too difficult to add on a "need be " basis.

San: There is a small amount of a deodorizer in the carpet shampoo already, they can add more if you really need, like if you have pet stains, then you should have them add something.

elle: You always meet with the sales person when they get to your home. tell them you only want the cleaning, and no extras please. If they quoted a certain price, make sure you tell them that you don't want the scotch guard... that's inbedded in my carpet... and you don't want the pet order eliminator... doesn't work. Just have them clean it, and leave.

Cleaning the carpets SHOULD deodorise most carpets, however some stuburn odors may remain. I would like to point out you can buy a can of good deodoriser and spray it on your carpets yourself for about $5. Its not difficult to do. As for stain guarding I really do recomend you stain guard your carpets, keep in mind you can buy a can of scotch gaurd for $10 at walmart, follow the directions on the can its not hard.
Most of the time these are not added to the water. Deodorising and stain guard are exactly what the companies say they are EXTRAS, they just happen to be in a good position to push them so they can make more money.
