Why is my kitten peeing on area rugs?

Why is my kitten peeing on area rugs?
My kitten has taken to peeing on area rugs. how do I stop her from doing this? I am afraid she is going to do it on my wall to wall carpet.

CatsDogsFrogs:  It could because she peed there ounce on accident, and now the odor is still there. Cats like to pee in the same spot

bookworm:  One of my cats did that. It turned out that there was an infection. An gland problem in his number two. The vet recommended special food for him. My cat doesn't pee on the floor anymore.
