emerelle2k:  To be totally safe you should get it professionally cleaned. Not knowing what kind of material it's made from or what the stains are, makes it hard to give a blanket answer.

Victor:  ok, i recomned a proffesional cleaning,, but,m if you can't afford it,, here is how,, place another rug beneath it,, you will make a mixture of dishsoap, and water,,{ DAWN works best} you will need a bucket of warm clean water also, and a big sponge{ the big thick kind you can get at walmart} ,, you will first sponge the rug with the soapy mixture, once,, then take a dry sponge and remove the liquid, squeezing out the sponge all the time,, then you will take the fresh water ,, and push it into the rug.. DO NOT RUB OR SCRUB AT ALL,, ,, take your dry sponge and press to remove the water.. reapeat, the fresh water several times, then hang the rug to air dry, fliping it half way through the drying process.. this will get your rug nice and clean....:]. ps,, the DAWN will remove any oils or or invisible grease that is on your carpet..
