how to clean an area rug?
how to clean an area rug?
Any body have any ideas how to do a basic cleaning of an area rug (about 5'x9')? i don't really want to do it myself. rather take it somewhere. not sure what it is made of, but it's a nice rug, not oriental. thoughts?

blazentree64: Look in phone under carpet cleaners. They will come and pick it up and clean it. They are not cheap though.

SkyeBlue: It can be a chore to do, but if they are really dirty we take ours to the self-service car wash to clean them. The pressure of the soap and water gets the rugs really clean.
I do the underside of the rug first with the soap, then turn it over and wash the top side of the rug with the soap and make sure I rinse it very well. Then we just bring it home and hang it on the clothes line until it is dry.
