How can I decorate my room bohemian/Indian/hippie style?
So right now my room is really pretty. The way I like it, except my friend just moved out and we had been sharing a room so her beds gone and there's a big open area. Right now my room has a lot of rich colors and patterns. With drippy tapestries and lights strung across the ceiling. I have a ton of pillows and a queen sized bed. But to the left of my bed there's about 6 or 7 feet of empty space. I thought having a sort of Indian style tent could be neat but I'm not sure how to do that. The only oriental rug I own is already on use at the foot of my bed which takes up about 1/2 the floor space. Based on that style I just told you about what do you suggest I put in the open space? Thanks! :)

Maiko:  Instead of a tent, you could hang some kind of curtains or fabric from the ceiling. Throw some cushions on the floor and some round bolster pillows in bright jewel tones and maybe add some tassels and beading. The great thing about this look is, it is VERY easy to find things that harmonize well. Look in thrift stores, flea markets, discount stores and import stores.

As far as woods go, look for intricate carvings and dark wood. Try adding a small, low accent table. Also, try looking at pictures of Indian rooms. This can give you ideas for colors and patterns. Combined with a curtain on either side this could create a tent-like effect and look really nice. Best of luck, I hope this helps!
