How to keep area rugs from slipping on wood floors?
I installed wood floors for the dogs. It makes for easy clean up of accidents. However I did not think ahead to the dogs comfort of play. They slid on wood DUH! So I put down multiple area rugs. I have no slip pads double taped to the underside but they roll up, peel off and slide if the dogs don't specificly hit the area that the pad is under. I've looked online for something that will guarantee the rugs to stay in place and maybe cut down on noise but they are crazy expensive. My husban

I just received two area rugs that are 6ft by 3ft for free through freecycle.com and the previous owner had big dogs. I don't think beating the rugs will make the smell disappear, so I'd like to get them cleaned. Since I didn't pay for them, I don't mind spending the money to have them cleaned. My living and dining rooms are in an open L shape. The walls are pale cream. Dining room furniture is cream lacquer with brass trim. Hand held steamer on area rugs?
I have two area rugs that need cleaned. They aren't stained, just a bit dingy looking from my lab laying on them. One is a jute type rug, 8x10, and the other is a mixed type blend 7x9, it does have some wool in it. I was just wondering if I could use my hand held steamer, I have a Shark Steamer, to clean these? Will it hurt them?
If I do this, what should I use with it, just water or some kind of carpet cleaner, etc?

My hardwood floors are much lighter under my area rugs. What is causing this?
We moved into an old house about a year ago. The former owner had recently redone all the downstairs hardwood floors. We put area rugs down in those rooms. The other week, I noticed that the wood floors were much lighter underneath these rugs than the rest of the floor. It is a major difference. Does anyone know what could be the cause of this? I volunteer on an ambulance, and was given the cat by a twp police officer after it was rescued by our local pd several days ago. I purchased a littler box for the cat immediately, but the cat won't use it to defecate. The cat urinates in the litter box, but uses various area rugs to defecate. Pick-up their turds with a papertowel, and put them in the litterbox. The next few times they are in the litterbox peeing, they will see them. Skip the whole "vet thing."

I priced the area rug stays for carpet and they wanted an arm and a leg for a large piece of plastic. Why is my female cat urinating on area rugs, in closets, etc. (her litter box is clean and has not been moved)
She has been doing this for a while, and especially when we leave. We've closed the closet doors, but she will find other places to go, on file cabinets, carpet, clothing.
