What type of area rug should I get?
I live in a 90 year old home with a lot of original features, including fir flooring. Our living room is brick red with off white (original) trim and moldings. Furniture is currently a dark brown, but will probably change to tan soon. We have a traditional style area rug (oriental-ish) with reds, browns, and creams but want to change. I'm wondering if we should stick with this style or move to a new "shag" style (either tan or brick red?). The surrounding rooms are a little more modern in c

Mouse:What about a more modern design (geometric or leaf) that could give your older house a new twist? It might be easier to find colors that will tie into the other rooms.

How do I choose a good quality area rug that is affordable?

I need someting large such as 8 X 10.
I am not into busy patterns, so most likely the typcal oriental rugs would not be for me.

Florida Girl:If you want a long term rug, wool is the best. A large one will not be cheap and be sure to buy a pad for under the rug, it will extend the life of it.

As far as pattens and style, that is a personal decision. What do you like? Don't go with a very light color or you'll be cleaning it ... More...

What is great product for getting cat pee out of oriental rugs?
I've tried Simple Solution, Nature's Miracle but cat keeps repeating this bad behavior. No health problems had him to vet. Tried placing litter box near the area. I need a good petstain remover and deterrent. Is Rescue Remedy a good product for curbing destructive behavior for newly adopted cat.

Lisa:there's a product you can buy called Urine Gone... also the food bowl will help PREVENT them from peeing there but, you still have to clean it up... also spraying lots of perfume in the problem area will make them avoid the spot... More...
